Belgian Blonde

Hey guys. I don't understand why you didn't find the appropriate BJCP category for these beers. The BJCP category for Leffe and other lighter Belgian goldens is Belgian Blonde Ale, Category 18A. Overall Impression described as "A moderate-strength golden ale that has a subtle Belgian complexity, slightly sweet flavor, and dry finish." and under comments
"Similar strength as a dubbel, similar character as a Belgian Strong Golden Ale or Tripel, although a bit sweeter and not as bitter." The Duvel is the classic example of the Belgian strong golden, category 18d. You made mention of a triple several times. The Belgian strong golden is very like a triple and easily confused.

Sometimes I wonder at your lineups for the show. The Duvel and Delirium Tremens are both strong golden's and are intended to be more complex sippers while the Afligem and Leffe are intended to be more quaffable easy drinkers. Depending on what you were looking for in these beers you could easily have ranked the two strongs over the blonds. It was kind of an apples and oranges comparison in that sense.

You're right, it probably

You're right, it probably wasn't the best put together show we've ever done. Jeff's head was in the clouds thinking of his India trip and I was still recovering from my Japan jet-lag hangover. We didn't really prepare and kind of threw together the first Belgian show with all sorts of mistakes and misappropriations.

So, we're sorry about that. We'll do a better job next time.

Bilk and driving do not mix

I was listening to this show while driving to Auckland for the weekend, and when the BILK! exclamations started, both my wife and I ended up with tears in our eyes from laughing so hard. Hazardous to say the least, but hilarious! :)

Glad that some of our

Glad that some of our listeners share our sense of humor.
