Instead of letting business travel get in the way we decided to do a quick show chock full of listener feedback. As it turns out the beers that were chosen for this show were rather good.
As usual... I have listened to all of the Pre and Post shows... Still working on the regular show.
First off, I love the SA glasses.. We did a French Country Ale tasting with the glasses, and they proved to be brilliant for guys with limited glassware. I guess my subscription to BA finally paid off!
As for the dog... I had a friend who had a greyhound, similar story, adopted and all that crap... Anyway, that dog never learned how to go up and down stairs... EVER! Along with that, the dog had all kinds of personality ticks. It finally ran away... Some Greyhound activist took issue with the dog getting away, and took possession by the ruling of some greyhound ownership court! What a freak show that whole thing ended up being!
Oh, on the show... Greg says buoyed... Is it Boy-ewed or Boo-eed? I always said the latter.
Later!

I forget the guy's name, but I think someone emailed asking for suggestions on books about the history of beer in the US. I recently finished reading Ambitious Brew, by Maureen Ogle. It is about exactly that. James Spencer actually interviewed her on his podcast, Basic Brewing Radio last fall.
You can listen to the two-part interview on basicbrewing.com (look for November 30 and December 7). The book itself can be gotten from amazon (that is an amazon referral link, which goes to support James and Basic Brewing Radio). The author also has a blog.
Yes it's a good book, the reason I didn't suggest it was that he listener was asking for a history of craft beer. Where Ambitious brew does not focus on the craft segment. I'll forward the suggestion to him in case he wants to explore it.
I really gained an appreciation for American Lagers and American beer businessmen. Like Pale ales and sweet drink wine coolers, fizzy lager beer is what American people liked and drank most of !
Pabst and AB seemed to have had to produce all out just to break even. Schlitz was interesting too, all the way up to it's self destruction.
In preparation for my trip to the GABF next month, I even read "Citizen Coors", which is pretty interesting and a bit scary if you are not of a conservative bend.
Cheers to Coors and AB, Miller et. al., ... for producing the beer that Americans wanted .. true free enterprise !
And Thanks and Cheers to all the Craft Brewers who gave us the choice to drink something different.
Wow .. so much to say on that book, but I agree, "Ambitious Brew" is an awesome book !
I have just finished a bulk listening couple of days, but I think it was on this show you asked:
I'm a Dane living in Denmark, not American. So that's one more non-English speaking listener - although I obviously have learned some English ;)
Craft Beer Radio is an Internet talk show about craft and micro brewed beers. The mission of the show is to spread the word of good beer. We introduce people to craft beer, and teach them about different beer styles, brewers who make them, and beer history. Whether you are new to craft beer or have been drinking it for more than 20 years we have something for you.

Accents...
I definitely prefer smelling, slurping and swallowing sounds to your sad attempts at accents, especially the Australian one ;-)!
Got BILK!!??

I propose to you sir, that if we were any good at accents, they wouldn't be as fun to do!

Some of those greyhound people are a little crazy. I'm not surprised.

That is a brilliant book,
That is a brilliant book, and I guess it was just assumed that everyone here had probably picked up a copy...
A great read! Someone had said somewhere that her book was the basis of some History channel program... Or something like that.
