SC has popped the cap, too
In the pre show, you were discussing states with low caps on the ABV and you mentioned that SC was one of them.
That changed earlier this year, and while there is an overall limit based on ABW, it works out to about 17.5% ABV. That is even higher than NC, where the limit is 15% ABV.
Wish TN would do the same...
I often hear you guys talk about states with limits on beer ABV, and it comes across as if you can't buy high alcohol beers in those states. Here in Tennessee the limit is 6%, but anything higher (such as Belgian strong ales or Scotch ales) are sold in liquor stores. So while you may not be able to pick up an Arrogant Bastard at the gas station, you can find one in liquor stores (That's what she said!). Inconvenient but not prohibited.

Bourbon barrels
Y'all were wondering about the basis of bourbon. Bourbon is mostly corn. I think over half the grain has to be corn to be called bourbon. The rest is usually barley or rye. Basically, it's moonshine aged in oak barrels. Scotch or Irish Whiskies are all grain, usually malted barley.
Sweetwater Brewing here in Atlanta aged some of their Happy Ending beer in Jack Daniels barrels called Happy Jack. They only served it on brewery tours and it was smack-your-mama good.
Great show this week!
