Favorite Beers of 2007?

Anyone have favorite beer discoveries of 2007 to share? Any particular beers (or even stles) that you had for the first time, or maybe rediscovered?

My favorite styles of the year are the probably Sours, Oak Aged, and IIPAs. Within those categories, I really enjoyed (many are very obvious, but good is good!)...

Sour beer:
Rodenbach "Grand Cru" (on Tap!)
Monk's Cafe "Flemish Sour Red Ale" (bottle)

Oak Aged:
Founders "Backwoods Bastard" (bottle)
Avery "Samael Oak Aged Ale" (bottle)

IIPA:
Russian River "Pliny The Elder" (on tap)
Rogue Rogue "I2PA" (on tap)
Great Divide Brewing Co. "Hercules Double IPA" (tap and bottle)

Misc:
Nøgne Ø Porter (bottle)
Voodoo "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver Brown Ale" (bottle)
Brouwerij De Koninck NV "Winter Koninck Belgium Dark Ale" (tap)
Port Brewing Company "Old Viscosity Strong Ale" (bottle)
Oskar Blues "Dale's Pale Ale"

Cheers! And here's to a beeriful 2008 to you all!

Favorite Beers of 2007?

I had a very exciting year in finding great beers and expanding my taste buds further than I could have imagined.....I tried a whole new group of beers as well as rekindled my love for some old favorites!

The year started by opening some cellared Jeroboams of Ommegang and Hennepin from 4 years ago. Wow is all I can say. I continued through much of the first half of the year drinking cellared beers from 3 and 4 years ago. The highlights were mostly from the Ommegang Brewery's Cave Aged collection that had been purchased at the brewery on their respective release dates.

Sour Beers:
Haven't had one this whole year but I do love Rodenbach Grand Cru
Although I did have Rodenbach Redbach (made with sour cherries)

Oak Aged:
Left Hand Oak Aged Imperial Stout

Pale Ale (IPA?):
Flying Dog Double Dog Double Pale Ale
Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale

Stout:
AleSmith Speedway Stout
Ommegang's Chocolate Indulgence (Belgian Style Strong Ale?)

Saison:
Southampton Saison Deluxe
Brooklyn Local 1
Ommegang Ommegedon

Belgian Strong Ale:
Southampton Grand Cru

Wheat Beer:
Three Floyd's Gumballhead
Smuttynose Wheat Wine (YUM!)

IPA:
Three Floyd's Dreadnaught IPA
Three Floyd's Repelesence [AKA "X"] (10th Anniversary IPA)

This is the new crazy stuff I've been trying as of late.
Belgians [of all sorts]:
Picobrouwerij Alvinne Podge Imperial Stout
De Dolle Oerbier Special Reserve
De Dolle Export Stout
De Dolle Still Nacht
De Dolle Dulle Teve (Mad Bitch)
Malheur 10
Brasserie Caracole Saxo
Malheur Dark Brut (I just bought some of the regular Brut this week)
t' Smisje BBBourgondier
t' Smisje Kerst
t' Smisje Calva Reserve
t' Smisje Guido
St. Bernardus Abt 12

Italian (and they do make beers that aren't pilsners):
Birra Baladin Nora (made with Myrrh)

I'm cellaring some of the new finds I've made! I'll keep you guys posted! I also promised to send some to Jeff and Greg so they could "review" some of these. I'm just waiting till my next trip out of Massachusetts so I can DHL them (it's illegal in MA to ship beer in or out).

But the best thing I've found in 2007 is Craft Beer Radio...... Finally!

Happy Drinking in '08!

R.i.K
Good beer is worth driving to!

A few favourites I tried for the first time this year

Session Beers:
New Belgium Fat Tire and Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

IPAs:
Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

Oak Aged:
Weyerbacher's Blasphemy

I would love to try the beers from Russian River, Pizza Port & New Glarus.

I just had a St. Bernadus Abt 12, what a perfect beer. Just the right amount of alcohol, malt & sweetness. I almost want to say the dreaded "Man Candy".
