Take Two of the Utah Spotlight show. The first one was lost due to alcohol impairment, go figure. As it turns out we enjoyed the beers more on the second time around.
It's my understanding, that the advertisement that gave the LDS church such grief was a billboard with a three or four seat (quad) Ski Lift with a guy and 2-3 women beside him on the lift, and the line,
"Polygamy Porter: Why just have One ? " :-)
God Bless the guy that sent you the Utah beer, ... but ... I think he sent you the Biggest Utah beer.
The regular stuff is very good also, at 4%. Most of the stuff you had, especially from the liquor store, was over 4%, i.e. the IPA and barley wine.
Squatters has some excellent Stuff, their Full Suspension Pale Ale is excellent, and their other beers are Very Fresh and very excellent,

Uinta has gotten better over the years, I believe. Their Cutthroat Pale Ale is my favorite but they have others too. They seem to be mainly a brewery with a tasting room. http://www.uintabrewing.com/beers.html
Wasatch Brewing has been the Park City, Utah brewery. Park City is a Ski resort town and many of the hip, cocaine snorting, liberal, rich people in Utah (residents or visitors) live in Park City. They are in SLC and other cities also, but not as hedonisticly.
Wasatch has some fun ales .. i.e. the Polygamy Porter. Damn tastey !

Red Rock brewing in SLC is good and I think they won some awards at the GABF in 2007. Their website isn't that great, but click on the beers at the right to get a pop up description. http://www.wasatchbeers.com/beers.html
Yeah, Bohemia is just a local brewpub. ( I guess they can some beer, too). It's looks like it's mostly easy to drink stuff. http://www.bohemianbrewery.com/Home.html
Four + Brewing ... looks like a market concept of Uinta Brewing ( Uinta is the name of a mountain range east of SLC). "U-in-ta" I don't live in SLC anymore but the packaging looks intriguing. I'd encourage you to find their website at Uinta, but here it is: http://www.fourplusbrewing.com/wildfire.html
Next time I get back to Utah from Seattle, I'll have to buy some of my favorites from the grocery store (4%) and maybe from the liquor store (over 4%) and see if they can get them on the show for a 121c or another episode.
and btw, .. I got sooo wasted in 2004 ( a year after the 2002 Olympics in SLC) at a downtown Beerfest ( I had to go, I was visiting and they NEVER had them when I lived there '73--'92 ) on many 4 oz. samples of 4 % beer !
Polygamy Porter is a fine beer, however we find it a bit unfair...If a man can have a beer with a 6-Pack of wives then, we feel it's only fair that a woman can have a beer with a 6-Pack of husbands as in Polyandry Ale!
We are all about equal beer rights for women...www.Beer4Her.com
Because people have a right to party...yes, even in Utah!
Perhaps, if Jeff can manage to figure out how to clone this beer, he can make his own version and call it Polyandry Ale (or, I suppose, any other homebrewer can.) It would be a fitting tribute AND a little equal rights statement. I like that.
However how do you clone a well-done 4% porter? I mean cloning a 7% IPA seems like it would be child's play in comparison.
Hey, don't know if you guys listen to the Brewing Network podcast... but in a recent episode, they interviewed the brewmaster from Squatters, and asked her about techniques for brewing low alcohol without just starting with less malt and sacrificing flavor.
I should probably post a summary; but I'm really new to brewing, and maybe half-understood what the shit they were talking about. So plenty would be lost in the translation.
Craft Beer Radio is an Internet talk show about craft and micro brewed beers. The mission of the show is to spread the word of good beer. We introduce people to craft beer, and teach them about different beer styles, brewers who make them, and beer history. Whether you are new to craft beer or have been drinking it for more than 20 years we have something for you.

Goddamn it, Greg
Now I'm going to have to whisper "Wildfire" every time I drink one.
