It's that time of year again. This is the Beer Safari Christmas Gift Exchange. We received beer from Should I Drink That and sent beer to Phil, My Life as a Foodie. It is a doozy this year weighing in at nearly 1 hour. Thanks again SIDT for the beer.

Jeff & Greg, Thanks for
Jeff & Greg,
Thanks for posting this, and thanks again for not only being a part of the gift exchange with us, but for that incredible beer you sent me. I was taken by surprise with it, to be honest. I'd not had an American Strong Ale that complex before. It was so good, it almost took me out of character. :-)
Hope you guys have a great holiday. Thanks again.

Y'all are a bunch of
Y'all are a bunch of freaks.
Most of those videos were lame (and/or sucked), but you guys were good. There Greg goes again with horseblanket. Are you sure it isn't just belgian yeastiness?
Beer-opening hammer.....FUCK YEAH.

I think you're right, it's
I think you're right, it's belgian yeastiness, or at least a component of some sort of yeast flavor rather than straight-up horseblanket. I just call it "funk," but I was trying to search for some other words to describe it, because we've too often associated "funk" with "sour," which it shouldn't be. And funk isn't always bad. But it's never, how should I put this, a flavor you want to highlight. It only works as a subtle component.
It's interesting that you think most of the videos were lame - I was watching them and thinking, oh great, we're the only ones who didn't do it like some sort of skit, we look silly. But maybe that's our charm?
I usually describe it as
I usually describe it as Belgian Yeasty Funk (as if that is descriptive at all...at least most people into beer understand what I mean) and when it is sour I go more for sour/aspirin/lemon/orange/etc. type adjectives.
Don't beat yourself up about not doing a skit. That was partially why I hated the rest. You guys were just yourselves. Davis on draft did a nice job too and I might listen to some of their shows because of it. The rest I have no desire to try still. However, I do not think that it was simply because they did a skit that I hated it. If it were Jefferey and Gregory's journey to the wine cellar part deux then it would have been high-brow comedic entertainment and I would have loved it. I think the skits just sucked...and some of the people seem like jerks. As I said you guys were your usual likeable selves, and there is nothing wrong with that.

You know what they say about opinions...
For the record, CHUD is not a jerk... I just wrote him that way! I'm the jerk!
Merry Christmas!

That people have them? This was my two cents based upon the limited exposure I got of these people for the beer safari thing. You know what they say about first impressions. Perhaps I got the wrong one, but that was what I got based upon the skits.
It's nothing personal, that's just how it came off to me and wanted to throw in my feedback.
Happy new year!

This Asshole has one... :)
Well Groucho, there were only a few I enjoyed. Yours was one. I think I'll be tuning in to you now. I can hear the "who gives a rats ass?" from here! ;)
I also loved the Hopfather. Props Phil. Maybe because I'm a huge fan of the original movie.
I agree though, it was great to see Jeff and Greg just being Jeff and Greg. Refreshing.
