Interesting and strange piece of news. A old school raid! What BS!!
Cliff's notes version:
Police radied 3 Philly bars and confiscated 100's of bottles of expensive beer.
Beer was legally bought from licensed PA distributors but the claim is the breweries didn't register the beer names with the PA LIquor Control Board - a process that requires the brewers or their importers to pay a $75 registration fee for each product they want to sell in Pennsylvania.
For instance, the cops grabbed "Monk's Cafe Sour Flemish Red Ale" whose brand appears on the state's online list as "Monk's Café Ale.". They also grabbed bottles of "Duvel Belgian Golden Ale", which appears on the PLCB list as "Duvel Beer".
Police said that the investigation was sparked by "a citizen complaint."

The rumor I heard is that a bar (the complaining party) was jealous that other bars received Pliny the Younger, so they decided to screw the other bars over by filing the complaint. Just a rumor though.
